Jesus shed His blood to wash our sins away. It makes us pure and
clean in the sight of God.
The blood draws a line that our enemy satan
and his evil demons cannot cross because they are sinful. (Ex. 12:13,
Satan hates the precious blood of Christ. It signifies what he is
not – purity, cleanliness, and freedom from sin.
In the Old Testament (Leviticus) whenever the priests came before God
they would sacrificially kill various types of animals.
unblemished animal was always used. For the common people a she goat or
an unblemished perfect lamb was often used as their sin offering.
sin offering foreshadowed the sacrifice of Christ’s death on the cross.
Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross as a sin offering for us. He
gave Himself once and for all for our sins. Hallelujah! Thank you,
“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things,
like silver or gold, … but with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb
without blemish and without spot." (1 Pet. 1:18-19)
The priests would use the lamb’s body as a sacrifice to God. The
blood of the sacrificed animal was sprinkled on the mercy seat,
signifying our dependence upon God’s mercy to cleanse us from our sins.“The life of the flesh is in the blood.” (Lev. 17:11)
The animal was
sacrificed to atone for man’s sin. Christ did the same thing for us in
the New Testament. He was a perfect sacrifice without sin or blemish.
He brought His own blood into the holy place to offer it before God.
“Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He
entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal
redemption“ (Heb. 9:12)
The animal sacrifices had to be repeated each
year. Christ made one sacrifice, which is good forever. “But this Man,
after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the
right hand of God.” (Heb. 10:12)
The blood of Christ has once and for
all cleansed us from our sin. We have been cleansed of our sins by the blood of Jesus. We are
made the righteousness of Christ by our faith in Jesus Christ and His
shed blood. (Rom. 3:21-26)
There is no other way for us to be
righteous, but through the blood of Jesus. Our righteousness is but as
filthy rags. (Is. 64:6) We are cleansed and made whole by the blood. It
redeems us. (I Pet. 1:18-19)
Through Jesus' shed blood, we are made
perfect without spot or blemish. (Heb. 9:12-17 and 1 Pet. 1:18-19) “The
blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. “ (1 John 1:7)
Through His blood and death Jesus has broken the legal hold of satan
off of our lives. (Heb. 2:14-15) “He who sins is of the devil; for the
devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God
was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John
Jesus has broken the legal hold of satan off of our lives through
His shed blood. (Heb.2:14-15)Satan hates this because he is sinful. He does not claim the
blood of Christ to cleanse him from his sins.
