How To Talk To God

When we know how to pray, we come boldly into his throne room and talk to God.

What is prayer? Prayer is talking to God and he is waiting to hear from us.

Have peace when you learn how to talk to God.God gives you "Peace".

Praying is one of my favorite things.

It is so refreshing and peaceful in God's presence.

God wants good things for us. (Jer. 29:11-12)

God wants to be our very best friend. (Jo. 15:13-14)

why should we pray?

We are commanded to pray.  Pray without ceasing. (1Thess. 5:17)

Jesus is our wonderful example of how to pray. He talked with God many times while He was here on earth. If Jesus felt the need to communicate with God, how much more do we need to talk to God.

Jesus said, "When you pray." (Matt 6) He did not say, IF. He said, WHEN.

God loves us and wants the very best for us. He wants to bestow His blessings and protection upon us. (Ps. 91) God expects to hear from us.

God is always there with open arms and a loving heart. He demonstrated His love toward us by sending His Son, Jesus who died for us while we were yet sinners. (Rom. 5:8, Jo. 3:16)

We become Christians by asking Jesus Christ to be our Savior.

Ask Jesus into your heart, now!

What is Prayer?

Prayer is a two-way communication with God.

  • Prayer is asking

As we come into His presence, we can pour our heart out to Him. God is always listening.

Pray and ask God believing in faith. He is waiting for us to ask. God can do whatever He wants, but He has given us dominion over the earth. (Gen. 1:26) He is waiting for us to ask Him before He will move.

  • Prayer is listening

One of the most important things of how to talk to God is to listen.

He may speak to us in a still small voice. He may speak to us in His Word. He may bring scripture to remembrance, remind us of a song or an event, etc. It is very important to spend time listening to God.

God wants to guide and direct you. (Ps. 37:23)  Listen to the gentle, loving voice of the Lord. He will direct our steps for any and all situations. DO NOT listen to condemning voices. (Rom. 8:1)

how to talk to god

Always begin and end your prayer with praise.

The Lord's prayer is God's example of how to pray. Acknowledge and praise God first before we make any requests. (Matt 6:9-13)

Start first by giving God a "sacrifice of praise". (Heb. 13:15) “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Ps. 100:4)

After we come into His presence with praise and thanksgiving, then we are ready to pray.

The more time we spend with God the easier and quicker we may come into His presence. The more sensitive we will become to His voice.

How To pray

After we are in God's presence, then we are ready to talk to God.

We come boldly to God's throne room because we have been cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus. (Heb. 4:16) (1Pet. 1:18-19)

  • Talk to God from your heart.

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." (Mark 11:24)

God answers prayer when we come to Him in faith without doubting. “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting...”  (James 1:6)  This is how to talk to God and how to pray to Jesus.

  • Seek God's will

We are in God’s will, when we love God and obey His commandments. Submit yourself to God’s will for your life. (Matt. 6:33)

What is God’s will for the situation you are seeking Him about? Does it line up with the word of God?

Is what you are asking God's will or are you asking for selfish ambitions? (James 4:3) (Ps 66:18) (1 John 3:22)

When you know how to talk to God you can,

Stomp on the devil with your prayers!

  • Pray in Jesus name.

Always present your prayers to God and pray in the name of Jesus. And whatsoever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If, you ask anything in My name; I will do it.”  (John 14:13-14)

  • Leave your prayers at the throne of God.

When we pray - believe, ask, and receive. (Mark 11:24) Don’t take the situation back into your own hands by speaking doubt and unbelief into the situation.

Satan can’t stop God’s plan and purposes from taking place, unless we allow him by the words we speak. Speak the Word of God into your situation and watch your mountains move. (Mark 11:23)

  • Walk in forgiveness

God commands us to forgive. When we talk to God it is very important for us to forgive others. (Matt. 6:12, 14-15)

When we do not forgive, God allows satan to torment us. God will not answer until we forgive. (Matt. 18:34-35) After we forgive, God will do His part and work in all of the lives involved.

praise god for the answer

Be thankful and bless His holy name because the answer is on the way.

God is so full of love and grace. He wants good things for us. When we pray, putting our situations into God’s hands, He can intervene and turn them around in miraculous ways.

Leave your prayers in God’s able hands. “…Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:22)

Now that we know how to talk to God, expect answers from a miracle working God.
